Mandatory Training for Mining Sirdar and Overman: DGMS Certification Guide

In Indian coal mines, Mining Sirdar (also called Mining Mate) and Overman receive mandatory statutory training from DGMS under Coal Mines Regulations (CMR) 2017. This training prepares them for underground and opencast mine supervision, gas testing, ventilation, and emergency handling.

Mining Sirdar Training Requirements

Mining Sirdar undergoes 6 months of practical training at DGMS-approved centers. The curriculum covers gas testing, first aid, mine ventilation, roof control, and blasting practices. After training, candidates must pass DGMS competency exam to get certificate for working under deputy or overman in coal mines.

Overman Training Program

Overman requires 1-year practical training course, available for Mining Engineering diploma holders from DGMS-recognized institutions. Training includes mine management, legislation (Mine Act 1952, CMR 2017), surveying, machinery operation, and advanced safety protocols.
