How to download the WCL admit card

  1. Open the download page. Click the button above, or go to the official website westerncoal.in and look for the admit card link under the recruitment or career section.
  2. Log in. Enter the login details asked for on the page. These are normally the ones you got when you registered, such as your registration or application number with your password or date of birth. Use the same details you used while applying.
  3. Enter the captcha, if asked, and submit.
  4. View your admit card. It will open on the screen with your details.
  5. Check every detail carefully (see the list below).
  6. Download it and print it. Take a clear printout on A4 paper, and keep a soft copy on your phone as a backup.

What to check on your admit card

  • Your name, spelled correctly, and your photograph and signature
  • Your roll number or registration number
  • The post you applied for
  • The date, shift and reporting time of the exam
  • The exam centre name and full address
  • The instructions printed on the admit card

If anything is wrong, such as a name mismatch, a missing photo or an unreadable detail, contact WCL through the helpdesk or email given on the portal as soon as possible. Do not wait for the last day.

What to carry to the exam centre

  • A printout of your admit card, which is mandatory
  • An original photo ID as specified in the notification or on the admit card, such as Aadhaar, PAN card, voter ID, passport or driving licence. The photo and name must match.
  • Any passport-size photographs or declaration forms if the admit card asks for them
  • A transparent water bottle and a simple pen, if allowed

Read the instructions on the admit card carefully, because they tell you what is permitted and what is not. In general, leave mobile phones, smart watches, calculators and any electronic devices out of the exam hall unless the instructions say otherwise.

Exam day tips

  1. Find the centre a day before if you can, and plan your travel with extra time.
  2. Reach early, well before the reporting time. Entry usually closes at the time stated on the admit card.
  3. Sleep properly the night before. A rested mind recalls numbers and regulations better.
  4. Read each question fully, especially the ones with blanks, such as "not less than ___ metres". The options are often close to each other.
  5. Answer the sure questions first and come back to the doubtful ones. Check the exam instructions on marking and navigation on the screen.
  6. Keep an eye on the clock, and leave a few minutes at the end for review.

A quick revision plan for the last days

For Mining Sirdar papers, the statutory subjects matter the most. In our analysis of the 2023 paper, more than half the questions came from the Coal Mines Regulations, 2017, and most of the rest from the Mines Act, the Mines Rules and the rescue rules. So spend your last days on the numbers, forms and definitions.
